For our first event of the year 2025, The Idaverse attended The Early Bird Special Show in Brooklyn, put together by the talented Early Bird (@earlybirdofficial_), who did a phenomenal job of lining up such a versatile group of artists. Everyone did amazing and brought their own strengths to the table, as each performance amplified the next. I found myself at this event particularly in support of my friend and The Idaverse’s very own artist O Dog, and as I always am, I was pleasantly satisfied with the presentation he put on for his many supporters. I had the upmost pleasure of enjoying the show with another one of my friends and Idaverse artist J Dazed (@j.lovvaa) who happens to be close to the rapper.

I have been to many of O Dog’s performances in different spaces, but something that remains the same always, is the energy and reception of the crowd. Despite how many people he has with him on stage or the songs he decides to grace us with, the audience loves his charm and authenticity. These attributes are also what connected him with The Idaverse, as his personality attracts those who look for this when supporting an artist from their community. Throughout the night, O Dog introducing me to several creatives showed how personable he truly is. I can tell he understands that in order to attract genuine support, you have to be willing to offer it at every moment without expecting anything in return. What I love most about having him as an artist in The Idaverse is the fact that he embodies everything we stand for. He pulls people with his unique style, reels them in with his talent, and keeps them locked in with his purity.

O makes it way too easy to love him, with the way he treats his craft, himself, and the people he loves. With all the support from home in Jersey, he tries his best to have his people come to his performances wherever they are, making sure they’re comfortable in these spaces. From all the ones I’ve attended, I could tell having a system around him puts O Dog in the right headspace to carry out a great show. Those that do listen to his music could probably agree that he gives an accurate overall idea of the type of person he is and what’s important to him, as it makes his audience feel closer to O each time. This performance in particular gave new listeners an amazing first impression, and those who are already familiar, and even better show than the last. The Idaverse as a whole has loved watching O Dog grow over the year, and appreciates all he’s blessed us with. It is no question how proud his family must be, especially his late sister, Charli, who has clearly been guiding him effortlessly through his journey of becoming such an amazing artist.
